Drinking plenty of water

Yeah, I know this is one of the issues all health sites & books harp on, and nobody really wants to hear it.  It's pretty unsexy to drink plain water all day.

Fact is, though, this can make a huge difference to your life.

I used to think that I was already drinking enough water - I'd try to drink my 6-8 glasses a day - but one day after reading an article on intuitive healing, I decided to ask my body its opinion.

(Yeah, that sounds pretty nutty, maybe, but it's easy - close your eyes, focus on your body, ask "How many glasses of water should I be drinking each day?" and listen for a response.  If the answer doesn't make a lot of sense, keep asking till something comes clear.)

So, crazy me, I consulted my body and it said I needed more like 11 glasses of water a day.  No prob.  I figured that was almost one glass of water every hour that I'm awake, so I decided to drink one glass of water every hour on the hour till evening, then take a break before bed so I didn't have to wake up in the middle of the night.

The results really surprised me.

I used to be foggy, confused, lethargic, tired, and unable to concentrate or focus pretty much most of the time.  Now, as long as I'm chugging water on schedule, I am "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed," as they say!  I can focus and problem-solve so much better, it's astonishing.

If I start to get confused or overwhelmed, I pretty much inevitably realize that I got distracted from my routine and haven't had any water in a couple of hours.

I'm pretty mad that I lost years of my ability to think straight to a problem that had been so easy to solve all along!

Also, for what it's worth - they (whoever "they" are :)) say that only pure water does the trick.  I was in denial about this too - I drank a lot of hot herbal tea and figured that had to be harmless, because there's no caffeine or sugar in it.  But for some mysterious reason, only pure water really works for me in this.  I can drink a cup of hot tea every hour on the hour and it really doesn't have the same effect.

Needless to say, don't drink soda, alcohol, coffee or tea regularly if you can help it, and only drink it in addition to water.

You should also be aware that drinking enough water can help headaches, constipation, fatigue, and dry skin, and is essential for healthy kidney and bladder function!  (Speaking of unsexy ;))
